Job summary

Morson Edge (Financial Services) in London seeks a Senior Applied AI Engineer to join a newly established AI Engineering function. The role focuses on enterprise-grade AI applications, embedding Generative AI capabilities across the business.

You will design, develop and deploy AI solutions at scale, bridging software engineering with investment management, and own end-to-end delivery in a hands-on capacity.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Software Engineering with production-grade applications.
• Hands-on Python development experience including backend applications and APIs.
• Experience building Generative AI apps using LLMs, RAG architectures and agentic AI.
• Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph.
• Strong APIs, system integrations and data connectivity understanding.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy production-grade Generative AI applications using Python and modern software practices.
• Build agentic AI workflows, RAG solutions and LLM-powered apps for business and investment processes.
• Develop integrations connecting AI apps with enterprise data, internal platforms and third-party APIs.

My client is a leading global investment management organisation seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to join its growing Technology function in London.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established AI Engineering function, focused on developing innovative, enterprise-grade AI applications and embedding Generative AI capabilities across the business.

Working at the intersection of Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Investment Management, you will play a key role in designing, developing and deploying bespoke AI solutions, including agentic workflows, intelligent automation and applications that connect LLMs with enterprise data and internal systems. This is a hands-on Software Engineering position, offering significant technical ownership and the opportunity to influence how AI applications are developed and deployed across the organisation.

The Senior Applied AI Engineer is expected to:

• Design, develop and deploy production-grade Generative AI applications using Python and modern Software Engineering practices.
• Build agentic AI workflows, RAG solutions and LLM-powered applications to support business and investment processes.
• Develop integrations connecting AI applications with enterprise data, internal platforms and third-party APIs.
• Contribute to the development of internal AI platforms and bespoke applications, reducing reliance on third-party software.
• Build scalable, reliable and secure AI solutions incorporating evaluation, monitoring, observability and appropriate guardrails.
• Take ownership of applications throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle, from initial design through to production deployment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, data specialists and business stakeholders to identify and deliver valuable AI use cases.
• Help establish engineering standards, development practices and reusable components within the growing AI function.

The successful Senior Applied AI Engineer will possess:

• Strong background in Software Engineering, with demonstrable experience designing, developing and maintaining production applications.
• Hands-on Python development experience, ideally including backend application development and API frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Practical experience developing Generative AI applications using LLMs, RAG architectures and/or agentic AI frameworks.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, data connectivity and distributed application architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP, alongside CI/CD, Docker and modern DevOps practices.
• Understanding of AI application evaluation, observability, security and production reliability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Experience with MCP, vector databases, Snowflake or Microsoft Fabric would be advantageous.
• Financial Services or Investment Management experience.
