Job summary

Chroma Recruitment is seeking a Senior Android Engineer on a hands-on delivery contract in Manchester. The role is Kotlin-first, Jetpack Compose-only, with an established in-house team, and focuses on shipping a new customer-facing proposition quickly.

You will work closely with product and design to deliver iterative changes, continuing to improve the app’s architecture and test coverage. A strong emphasis on quality and pragmatic delivery is required.

Qualifications

• Strong Android development experience at Senior level.
• Excellent Kotlin knowledge.
• Experience with Jetpack Compose and multi-module architecture.
• Experience with testing (JUnit, MockK, Espresso or similar).
• Experience integrating with backend APIs (Retrofit/OkHttp).

Responsibilities

• Design and build Android experiences for a major new customer proposition.
• Evolve reusable UI components and design system.
• Improve automated tests and test suite quality.
• Address technical debt and improve maintainability.
• Contribute to architecture and modern Android practices.
• Integrate app with backend APIs and services.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA.
