Job summary

Wise is hiring an Android Engineer for the Design Systems team, based in London with a hybrid working setup. You will help build and scale foundations, building blocks, and tooling that support Wise’s products and landing pages across mobile and web platforms.

Collaboration spans Product Design, Brand, Web, iOS, Android, and Design Tooling, with a focus on accessible, performant interfaces and scalable design systems.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in building reusable UI components and tooling with Compose.
• Experience integrating with theme architecture and managing design tokens globally, including colors, spacing, and typography.
• Ability to build clean, intuitive, and highly flexible APIs for other developers.
• Experience with visual regression testing and optimizing UI performance for zero dropped frames.
• Strong commitment to accessible interfaces and inclusive design, with testing tools to improve usability.
• Ability to discuss, evaluate and communicate complex technical problems clearly and objectively.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional peers and work independently.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to documentation and RFCs.
• Bonus: contribute to design systems or pattern libraries; exposure to authoring tooling and automation; comfort with Figma.

Responsibilities

• Participate in or lead engineers through the full lifecycle of a feature from discovery to release and maintenance.
• Troubleshoot, fix, and support other product teams on related problems.
• Represent and champion Design Systems initiatives to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver impactful experiences to internal and external users.
• Assist new Wise engineers to ramp up on Design System, tooling, and best practices.

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements:

• Deep expertise in building reusable UI components and tooling with Compose

• Support new Wise engineers, helping them ramp up on the Design System, tooling, and best practices
