Job summary

Flypay is seeking a Senior Android Developer to join its London team. You will work on the Flyt platform powering Pay at table, Order Ahead, and other modules, building robust Android apps and plugins.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate across teams to design new features, and ensure quality testing and performance across devices while expanding our framework for third party developers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of commercial Android development experience
• Portfolio of released Android apps
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK and lifecycle
• Experience with UI optimization for multiple devices and OS versions
• Experience with Google Maps API and Play Store publishing
• Experience with Espresso and unit/UI testing frameworks
• Familiarity with ProGuard and dependency injection
• Experience with MVVM/MVC patterns and Git

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain high quality Android applications.

Job Description

The Android team is working on our framework which powers the products in the flypay app (Pay at table, Order Ahead, Order At Table, Pay At Bar) and a bunch more plugins in in the pipeline. We will be distributing our framework to a lot of companies to develop on top of very soon. It is already powering the apps for GBK, Wahaca, Levi Roots Caribbean Smokehouse, Burrito Mama and a bunch more in dev :) We are really excited to see the use skyrocket.

As a Senior Android Developer your main responsibilities will be:

• Take responsibility in designing, implementing and maintaining high quality applications.
• Work with an established team of mobile engineers while providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Work with outside data sources and API's
• Unit-test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency.
• Support the development of a framework for third party developers to create branded versions of our apps.

Qualifications

REQUIREDSKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years commercial development experience
• Portfolio of released applications
• Solid understanding of Android SDK
• Must have excellent knowledge of Android architecture and lifecycle
• Brilliant at developing optimised UI for different android versions and devices.
• Experience with Android Google Maps API
• Experience with publishing application on Google Play Store
• Experience with Android testing (Espresso, roboelectric, spoon)
• Experience using pro guard in released applications
• Experience working with a Model View pattern
• Experience with GIT source control.
• Experience with dependency injection
