Job summary

Synergy is seeking a Senior Analytical Scientist to join the Analytical Leadership and Testing function in Moreton, Merseyside. You will perform analytical testing of drug substances, intermediates and finished products in a GMP environment, collaborating with laboratory leads and scientific teams.

The role requires 3+ years in GMP labs with strong HPLC, dissolution testing and Karl Fischer analysis skills, plus experience with analytical data review and method transfers.

About the Role

This role supports the Analytical Leadership and Testing (ALT) function within the Regulated Analytical Sciences and Operations (RASO) department.

The successful candidate will perform analytical testing of drug substances, intermediates and finished products in a GMP-regulated environment, working closely with laboratory leads and scientific teams.

Key Responsibilities

Analytical & Laboratory Activities

• Plan, execute and troubleshoot analytical testing activities in accordance with GMP procedures.
• Conduct and support analysis using:
• HPLC
• Dissolution Testing
• Other analytical techniques as required
• Review, check and approve analytical data and results.
• Investigate technical issues and support laboratory investigations.
• Participate in analytical method development, transfer and validation activities.
• Ensure all analytical records comply with cGMP requirements and ALCOA+ principles.
• Support internal and external audit readiness activities.
• Identify process improvements and implement solutions.
• Contribute to Lean initiatives and root cause investigations.
• Execute tasks in accordance with regulatory and customer-defined standards.

Customer & Compliance

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with customer stakeholders.
• Ensure all activities align with Synergy's Code of Conduct, Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
• Collaborate effectively with laboratory leads, compliance teams, EHS and quality functions.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience working within a GMP laboratory environment.
• Strong expertise in HPLC and related analytical techniques.
• Demonstrable experience analysing oral solid dose pharmaceutical products.
• Experience with dissolution testing and Karl Fischer analysis.
• Strong customer-focused approach.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
• Strong problem-solving and risk assessment capabilities.
