Job summary

Valneva SE is seeking a Senior QC Technician (Analytical) to supervise and perform analytical tests for the release of raw materials and intermediates. You will provide expertise in analytical assays and drive projects to timely completion while overseeing daily lab operations and mentoring QC staff.

The role requires hands-on experience in a GMP QC lab, strong documentation skills, and the ability to lead a team within a fast-paced vaccine development environment in the United Kingdom.

Qualifications

• Working within a QC laboratory environment under GMP and a recognised quality system.
• Experience in SOP development and adherence.
• Extensive QMS experience covering OOS, Change Control and Deviations.
• Experience in biological assays and reference standard management.
• Proven ability to lead a team and drive objectives.
• Strong stakeholder management with regulatory bodies and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate, schedule and execute raw material, stability and in-process analytical testing.
• Provide technical expertise in analytical procedures such as ELISA, haemagglutination, protein assays and cell culture.
• Apply cGMP practices to test and release materials and intermediates.
• Ensure training and competency of QC analysts in procedures and GMP practices.
• Develop and report quality metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Prepare and review QMS documentation including SOPs, Deviations, CAPAs and OOS/OOT.
• Represent QC in cross-functional planning and batch release meetings.
• Provide Analytical SME support and drive improvements within the QC team.
• Support out-of-hours testing to align with production schedules.
• Oversee lab upkeep and equipment maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Encourage staff development and team cohesion.
