Job summary

Illumina in Cambridge, UK, is seeking a Senior Scientist in Analytical Chemistry for a 1-year FTC. You will develop analytical methods, execute studies, and generate high-quality data using HPLC and LC-MS to support next-generation sequencing products.

You will contribute to cross-functional teams, maintain instrumentation, and communicate complex results. A PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or a BSc with substantial experience, is required.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field; OR a BSc with substantial industrial or applied research experience.
• Hands-on expertise in HPLC and LC-MS.
• Experience in a product development, manufacturing, or applied research environment.
• Knowledge of oligonucleotide analysis would be advantageous; experience with analytical software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse samples using HPLC and LC-MS.
• Develop and optimize analytical methods for characterization of materials and processes.
• Contribute to scientific understanding through data interpretation and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain analytical instrumentation, methods, and SOPs.
• Communicate experimental plans, results, and conclusions through written reports and presentations.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams to support product development.
