Job summary

Unum UK is recruiting for a qualified finance professional to lead FP&A activities and drive planning, forecasting and analysis across UK and US stakeholders.

You will enhance management reporting, deliver actionable financial insights and support executive decision making in a hybrid role based in Dorking, with locations in London or Basingstoke as needed.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience in finance and accounting.
• 1/2
• Experience in FP&A or similar analytical finance role in a large/complex business.
• Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet and performance metrics.
• Experience supporting planning, forecasting and budgeting processes.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for senior audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, forecasting and analysis to shape Unum's financial plans.
• Support annual planning and ongoing forecasting for UK and US stakeholders.
• Produce monthly management information and insights for senior leaders.
• Provide high-quality financial analysis and recommendations for executive decisions.
• Develop and enhance reporting, forecasting and modelling tools to improve efficiency.
• Build expertise in Unum's financial planning systems (e.g., Anaplan).
• Collaborate with Finance and the wider business to understand drivers and challenge assumptions.
• Translate complex data into clear insights and presentations for executives.
• Foster strong cross-organisational relationships and governance across controls.

The role

What will you be doing?

• Lead financial planning, forecasting and analysis activities, helping to shape and deliver Unum's financial plans while supporting strategic business decision making.
• Play a key role in the annual planning cycle and ongoing forecasting process, providing insightful analysis and ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time for both UK and US stakeholders.
• Support the production of monthly management information, including the Monthly Performance Review (MPR), helping senior leaders understand business performance and key financial trends.
• Deliver high-quality financial analysis and recommendations that support senior executive decision making on a wide range of business priorities and opportunities.
• Develop and enhance reporting, forecasting and modelling tools that improve efficiency, accuracy and the quality of financial insights provided to the business.
• Build and maintain expertise in Unum's financial planning systems, including tools such as Anaplan, helping drive continuous improvement across FP&A processes.
• Partner with colleagues across Finance and the wider business to understand performance drivers, challenge assumptions and support informed decision making.
• Translate complex financial data into clear, meaningful insights and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• Build strong working relationships across the organisation, developing a deep understanding of business performance and the factors influencing financial results.
• Contribute to a strong governance and control environment, ensuring compliance with Information Security requirements, Consumer Duty, Treating Customers Fairly, Conduct Risk and Solvency II obligations.

What will you bring?

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA CGMA) or equivalent finance and accounting experience.
• Experience within FP&A or a similar analytical finance role, ideally within a large or complex business environment.
• Strong understanding of financial performance drivers and the interaction between profit and loss, balance sheet and business performance metrics.
• Experience supporting business planning, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis processes.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to create insightful reports, models and presentations for senior audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with an ability to interpret complex information and provide meaningful recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence presenting financial information to senior Finance and business leaders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work at pace and consistently deliver high-quality output to tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail combined with a continuous improvement mindset and interest in enhancing financial reporting tools and processes.
• Experience working in collaborative, high-performing teams within a professional business environment.

Location

Hybrid working. 3 days in office, 2 days from home. From office locations in Dorking, London or Basingstoke.
