The University of Strathclyde invites an experienced Senior Applications Analyst/Developer to lead the integration workstream for a major timetabling platform transformation. You will guide design, development and delivery across internal teams and external suppliers, ensuring robust, scalable integrations with core university systems.
We seek a proactive technologist with strong Java/SQL, REST API expertise and a track record of large-scale IT transformations in HE or public sector contexts.
FTE: 1.0 (35 hours per week)
Term: Fixed (28 months)
The University of Strathclyde is a leading international technological university, committed to delivering an excellent experience for its students and staff. Central to this is the effective planning and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment activities. Timetabling plays a critical role in enabling this, ensuring that academic provision is delivered efficiently, fairly and in a way that supports student success.
The University is undertaking a major Timetabling Improvement Project to modernise its current systems and processes. This will replace legacy, on-premise solutions with a modern, cloud-based platform supporting module timetabling, exam scheduling and resource management. The project aims to deliver a more flexible, reliable and user-friendly service, improving the experience for students, academic colleagues and professional services staff, whilst enabling better use of space and resources across the institution.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Applications Analyst/Developer to play a leading role in the technical delivery of this transformation. The postholder will lead the development, configuration and integration workstream, acting as a senior technical specialist within the project, and working closely with the Project Manager.
As an experienced Analyst/Developer, you will have a proven track record in system configuration, integration, data migration and implementation across both in-house and third-party solutions. Experience of working with cloud-based SaaS platforms, identity and access management, and modern authentication approaches will be highly beneficial.
The successful candidate will lead the technical design and development of integrations between the new timetabling platform and core University systems, including Student Records, HR, Estates, the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other key services. You will play a critical role in defining integration architecture, ensuring data quality, and supporting the transition from legacy systems to the new platform.
You will work closely with internal teams, including the Integration Hub and Business Systems teams, as well as external suppliers, to deliver a robust and scalable solution.
