Job summary

British Airways is seeking an exceptional Aircraft Duty Engineer to lead our Heathrow Engineering Operation. Based at Heathrow, you will oversee planned maintenance inputs, schedule resources, and collaborate with operations to maximise fleet availability and safety.

You will coordinate with Duty Shift Managers, engineers and planning teams to ensure on-time delivery while upholding high standards of engineering excellence and continuous improvement across a world-class fleet.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and decision-making in an urgent, high-stakes environment.
• Strong problem-solving ability with data-driven decision making.
• Ability to interpret technical publications and apply safety-critical standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the operation to defined production targets aligned with the maintenance plan.
• Provide clear leadership of maintenance colleagues and set expectations for daily delivery.
• Allocate tasks as required by the maintenance plan and optimize resources.
• Champion high-quality standards, monitor trends, and implement permanent solutions.
• Ensure clear communication of aircraft status between Planning and Production departments.
• Act as the point of contact for Engineers, flight crew and planning.
