Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Air Safety Engineer to lead technically demanding airworthiness, certification and safety-management work across defence aviation. The role involves guiding teams, shaping safety approaches and influencing complex decisions on aircraft upgrades and in-service changes.

You will translate regulatory and design requirements into robust safety evidence, manage risk assessments and support certification activities with senior stakeholders across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in a defence aviation environment.
• Strong experience in aviation safety, airworthiness, certification, engineering or operations.
• Experience leading safety cases, safety assessments, hazard-management activities or technically complex work packages.
• Sound knowledge of systems engineering and proportionate, defensible solutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across military aviation safety, certification and airworthiness assignments.
• Translate regulatory, design and operational requirements into proportionate strategies and credible evidence.
• Lead safety and airworthiness work packages for aircraft, mission systems and in-service changes.
• Develop evidence strategies linking equipment and system assessments to the Air System Safety Case.
