Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an aviation safety engineer to contribute to safety, airworthiness and certification across military air systems, with opportunities to work on aircraft, mission systems and upgrades.

You will join a safety and environmental assurance community, perform hazard analyses, develop safety arguments and support regulatory approval while balancing client and business needs within a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in defence or civil aviation.
• Knowledge of aviation safety, airworthiness and certification.
• Understanding of systems engineering and the engineering lifecycle.
• Collaborative, curious and delivery-focused approach.
• A relevant degree, aviation qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Desirable: familiarity with ASPIRE or the Air Engineer’s Toolkit.

Responsibilities

• Support air safety, airworthiness and certification activities across the lifecycle of military and, where relevant, civil aviation systems.
• Turn regulatory, design and operational information into clear safety evidence that supports certification, modification and continued operation.
• Develop and maintain hazard logs and support the assessment and management of Equipment Contribution to Risk to Life.
• Produce and update safety arguments, evidence registers and supporting assessments.
