Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking an aviation safety engineer to support safety, airworthiness and certification across military and civil aviation lifecycles. You will convert regulatory and design data into clear safety evidence to back certification and ongoing airworthiness, working within a collaborative defence safety community.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience delivering safety engineering or safety assurance in a defence or civil aviation environment.
• Working knowledge of aviation safety, airworthiness, certification and risk management.
• Understanding of systems engineering and the engineering lifecycle, with ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support air safety, airworthiness and certification across lifecycle of military and civil aviation systems.
• Turn regulatory, design and operational information into clear safety evidence for certification and continued airworthiness.
• Develop and maintain Air System Safety Cases, Type Airworthiness Safety Assessments, Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Management Plans.
• Create hazard logs and support assessment and management of Equipment Contribution to Risk to Life.
• Produce safety arguments, evidence registers and supporting assessments using FHA, ZHA, FTA, ETA, FMECA and Bow Tie analyses.
• Support ASPIRE and Air Engineer's Toolkit processes in safety assessment, type airworthiness, certification and in-service change.
• Assess safety and airworthiness implications of new capability, equipment integration or changes in use.
