Job summary

CPS Group (UK) Limited is seeking a Senior AI Software Engineer in Cardiff with strong C#/.NET and Azure experience to design, build and deploy AI-powered applications in secure, regulated environments.

You will develop production-grade software, APIs, and AI workflows, applying RAG, prompt engineering and agent orchestration while ensuring governance and security. Hybrid work with monthly in-office days and collaboration with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience building AI agentic tools and live production deployments.
• Strong APIs and enterprise integration knowledge.
• Eligible for SC security clearance.

Senior AI Software Engineer

Location: Cardiff (Hybrid - a couple of times per month in the office)

Salary: 55,000 - 75,000+ per annum, depending on experience

Clearance: SC Clearance Eligibility Required

CPS Group are supporting a global IT consultancy who are looking to expand their AI and Software Engineering function due to an increase in projects across the Public Sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior AI Software Engineer to design, build and deploy AI-powered applications using Microsoft Azure, working on innovative projects within secure and highly regulated environments.

The Role:

• Design, build and deploy AI Agentic tools and applications using Microsoft Azure.
• Develop production-ready software and APIs using C#/.NET and Azure AI services.
• Build multi-agent systems and AI-powered workflows, integrating with existing applications and data sources.
• Apply techniques such as prompt engineering, RAG and agent orchestration to improve AI performance.
• Implement AI security, monitoring, testing and governance measures.
• Take ownership of solutions throughout the full development lifecycle, from initial design through to production.
• Work closely with clients and technical stakeholders to deliver AI solutions that meet business requirements.
• Support and mentor other engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.

Required Experience:

• Strong software engineering experience using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
• Essential experience building AI Agentic tools and applications.
• Experience developing and deploying AI solutions into live production environments.
• Strong understanding of APIs, backend services and enterprise application integration.
• Experience with Azure AI services, Azure OpenAI, AI Search or similar technologies.
• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering and AI orchestration.
• Python experience is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working with Public Sector, or other regulated environments would be beneficial.
• Must be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
