Job summary

Chemistree | Resourcing & Recruitment client Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire seeks a Senior Software Engineer – AI Development to lead architectural design and guide production systems across healthcare, life sciences and other sectors.

You will work with AI coding agents, shape engineering standards, and influence technical delivery as the first senior engineer in the team, with three days a week in the office and some remote flexibility.

Qualifications

Substantial commercial software engineering experience, including at senior level.
Strong understanding of architecture, system design, data modelling, APIs and integration.
Fluency in TypeScript or Python, SQL and relational databases, with React frontend experience.
Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, plus containers, IaC and CI/CD.
A thorough approach to testing, code review and secure development.
Regular use of AI coding agents on real projects.
Confident communication with clients and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead client projects from architecture and specification through development, testing and release.
Turn business problems into clear technical plans, keeping solutions focused on client needs.
Direct AI coding agents using tools like Claude Code and Codex with robust testing.
Review code for correctness, maintainability and security, owning overall quality.
Work directly with clients, explain technical decisions and support AI tool adoption.
Develop reusable components, tooling and delivery practices, mentoring junior engineers.
