Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced backend/AI-focused engineer in the UK to build and evolve core safety review systems that surface events to customers. You will improve detection precision, bridge backend, data, and AI decisioning, and collaborate with product, design, and ML infra to enhance model feedback loops and overall product quality.

You will own complex projects end-to-end, leverage modern AI workflows, and contribute to a robust, scalable Safety platform while maintaining reliability

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development experience, backend or distributed systems.
• Experience on a product engineering team shipping customer-facing systems.
• AI-first approach with modern AI coding and reasoning tools.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core systems that review safety detections and surface events.
• Improve detection precision with AI-driven approaches and automated triage.
• Work at the intersection of backend, data, and AI-driven decisioning.
• Partner with product, design, AI and ML infra to improve model feedback loops.
• Own complex projects end-to-end from design to rollout and iteration.
• Use AI-assisted workflows to accelerate prototyping, debugging, and iteration while ensuring quality.
• Raise the bar for quality, operability, and engineering clarity in Samsara’s Safety platform.
