Huawei Research and Development UK Limited in Cambridge is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive real-time AI optimizations on Huawei AI processors. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape performance and efficiency across Ascend platforms.

The role requires deep expertise in AI chip architectures, compilers, and GPU/CPU integration, with hands-on work in C/C++ and Python. A strategic, roadmapping mindset and strong problem-solving are essential for delivering end-to-end

Qualifications

• Rich experience in optimizing AI chip architectures and AI systems across applications to chips.
• Hands-on experience with numerical computation, compilation, algorithm & chip co-design, runtime, or shared memory.
• Knowledge of AI industry application scenarios and ability to extract chip-layer requirements.
• Experience analyzing workload sensitivity to micro-architecture features and recommending improvements for efficiency.
• Familiarity with performance impact of compute, memory, and communication configurations on AI acceleration.
• Experience with GPU compute APIs such as CUDA or OpenCL and using GPU/NPU-optimized libraries.
• Experience in developing deep learning frameworks, compilers, or system software.
• Strong background in compilers and optimization techniques; LLVM-MLIR is a plus.
• Experience with software development using C/C++ and Python.]
