Job summary

Simmons & Simmons is seeking a Senior Legal Engineer to join the Knowledge/Legal Engineering team in Bristol or London. You will drive the strategic use of generative AI across the firm, designing prompts, developing use cases, and delivering training to lawyers and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience practising as a lawyer.
• Significant demonstrable experience of working within a legal environment.
• Strong understanding of legal work and lawyers’ day-to-day operations.
• Two years’ experience in legal technology or innovation-focused role in a law firm or legal department.
• Strong understanding of generative AI technologies and their application in legal work.
• Understanding of AI risks in a legal environment.
• Proven ability to deliver training and explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management and ability to manage multiple initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Embed generative AI across the firm, promoting adoption and integrating AI into workflows.
• Help lawyers develop prompts and use cases for different practice areas.
• Serve as point of contact for AI queries, best practices, and tool capabilities.
• Design and deliver engaging AI training for staff at all levels.
• Bridge between lawyers and technical teams by gathering feedback and communicating needs.
• Upskill AI Champions to provide first-line AI support.
• Collaborate with legal and technical teams to define agentic use cases and test solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with the legal AI market, focusing on generative AI and agents.
• Promote firm’s AI capabilities at industry events and forums.
