Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for its AI and Data Science Platform team in London. You’ll design and maintain cloud and on‑prem infrastructure used by ML engineers and data scientists to accelerate product development and scale.

You will work with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform/OpenTofu, and Helm, contributing to a robust platform with strong DevOps practices. Occasional London commuting is required to collaborate with diverse engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Strong practical Kubernetes experience (Pods, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Services, PVs/PVCs)
• GitOps mindset with declarative delivery and PR workflows
• Cloud infra experience, AWS preferred
• Cloud primitives (IAM, networking, compute, storage, observability)
• Terraform and/or OpenTofu experience
• Docker experience: build, debug, secure images
• Experience operating production systems and incident handling
• Ability to design practical platform solutions with limited supervision
• Proven ability to improve developer experience, reliability, security, delivery speed
• Collaborative team player; able to adapt as priorities change
• Willingness to commute to London 2 days per week

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud (AWS) and on‑prem infrastructure used by ML engineers and data scientists
• Support ML engineers by handling platform service requests and improving MLOps reliability
• Build relationships across engineering teams to align stakeholders
• Explain technical ideas and risks clearly in PRs, docs, reviews and meetings
