Railpen is seeking a Principal AI Engineer in London, offering hybrid working with 1 day per week in the office. The role leads AI capability across Technology, shaping standards, evaluating new technologies and ensuring responsible AI adoption.

You will combine deep engineering with stakeholder engagement to deliver practical AI outcomes. You will mentor teams, drive scalable AI solutions, and partner with architects and product teams to realize business value while maintaining governance and

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade applications.
• At least two years hands-on commercial AI engineering experience.
• Experience deploying AI solutions in production environments.
• Strong experience with LLMs and generative AI.
• Excellent Python programming and cloud platform experience.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Lead the design, development and delivery of AI solutions that solve business problems.
• Build scalable, secure and maintainable AI applications using modern engineering practices.
• Drive the adoption of AI across Railpen by enabling teams to realise opportunities.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, product teams and business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend where they create value.
• Define engineering standards and reusable approaches for AI development; ensure governance and security.
