Job summary

Searchability® in Nottingham is seeking a Senior AI & Automation Engineer to steer automation, IaC and AI-powered tooling across Azure and OCI. You will mentor engineers, define secure-by-design patterns and drive cost-aware cloud provisioning.

You’ll champion AI-first, automation-first approaches, shape CI/CD pipelines, and lead engineering demos and training sessions while collaborating with a global software business.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• Extensive hands-on automation across multiple languages.
• Advanced IaC across Azure and OCI (Terraform, Bicep).
• Proven design and delivery of CI/CD and automation solutions.
• Experience building and operating AI/LLM-assisted tooling or agents.
• Strong knowledge of security and IAM (Entra) and secrets management.
• Understanding of resilience and DR (RTO/RPO, failover).
• Mentoring engineers and leading technical work.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of complex automation, IaC and AI-powered solutions across Azure and OCI.
• Build reusable automation frameworks, standards and engineering patterns.
• Automate provisioning and improve resilience, DR and recovery capability.
• Design and enhance CI/CD pipelines for secure, compliant deployments.
• Embed identity, access control and secrets management by default (secure-by-design).
• Apply FinOps and cost-optimisation practices within cloud provisioning.
• Mentor and coach engineers, lead code reviews, and run demos and training sessions.
• Evaluate and implement cloud, automation and AI tooling with stakeholders across the business.

Job description

Location: Nottingham – hybrid, 3 days per week in the office, 2 from home

THE ROLE

A technical lead role in a shared-service AI and automation team. You’ll set the technical direction for Infrastructure as Code, automation and domain-specific AI agents across Azure and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The aim is to industrialise provisioning, cut down manual toil and improve recovery times across a portfolio of online products. You’ll mentor engineers and champion an AI-first, automation-first approach across Cloud Operations.
