Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a permanent full-time role in the Stroke rehabilitation team based at the Royal Devon & Exeter main site (Wonford).

The post involves providing a range of therapeutic interventions, liaising with patients and families in discharge planning and falls prevention, and supporting both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist with current registration.
  • Experience in stroke rehabilitation or acute neuro/rehabilitation settings preferred.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to discharge planning.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions and exercise programmes for stroke patients.
  • Lead on assessment, treatment planning and progression in rehabilitation.
  • Support discharge planning and liaise with patients, families and carers.
  • Develop strong links with MDTs in acute and community settings and cover broader service as needed.

More detail about the role This is an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as part of our specialist Stroke rehabilitation team based at the Royal Devon & Exeter main site (Wonford). This permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours / week) will involve providing a range of therapeutic interventions, treatments and exercise programmes to patients and liaising with patients and family / carers in discharge planning and prevention of falls. Post holders will be expected to identify and support the physical limitations of a patients disability and their functional problems to support the therapy team to deliver early routine assessments and rehabilitation. There will be a requirement to develop strong links with the multidisciplinary teams working in the acute and community settings. The caseload will be patients who are recovering after stroke and being assessed for discharge home or to their normal place of residence. There will be a strong Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy focus within the role and an expectation to support both professions on a daily basis. All members of the team will be expected to be flexible to the needs of the wider service and work in other areas as required. The role also includes regular weekends and bank holidays.
