Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Senior Site Agent to lead delivery on energy infrastructure projects around Inverness. You will manage large teams, drive safety standards and ensure programmes, cost controls and BIM BEP requirements are met.

Strong leadership and excellent stakeholder communication are essential. Ideal candidates have ICE Chartered status and proven experience on major projects, plus knowledge of construction techniques and contract law.

Qualifications

• ICE Chartered level qualification preferred.
• Experience managing a section of a major project, or acting as a site agent on a similar project.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
• Working knowledge of construction techniques and contract law relevant to construction contracts.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Set personal example in health, safety and environmental matters by ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures, and personal safety tours.
• Manage, supervise and mentor the project team as appropriate.
• Adopt, maintain and promote cost-conscious management through efficient use of all resources.
• Implement and promote the use of BIM technologies to deliver BEP requirements.
• Maintain good working relationships with RE staff and the supply chain.
• Encourage repeat business by adopting a professional attitude with clients and stakeholders.
• Establish, maintain and monitor an effective, programme-based cost management system for reliable QF preparation.
• Ensure realistic short, medium and contract programmes are prepared, reviewed and updated.
• Ensure method statements and risk assessments are prepared, briefed, reviewed and updated.
• Ensure records for measurement and payment purposes are prepared promptly, in appropriate form.
• Ensure all necessary site-based appointments are made with suitably trained staff.
• Use recorded weekly internal progress meetings to communicate with all levels of the team.
• Keep off-site line management apprised of potential problems and future work opportunities.
• Establish close working relationships with buying department to secure compliant terms.
• Collaborate with general foreman to ensure cost-effective use of labour and plant.
• Develop staff to their next level and keep abreast of developments in the field.

BAM UK & Ireland are looking to recruit experienced and motivated Agents / Senior Agents who can strengthen our existing team, delivering large civil engineering projects across Scotland. The projects are predominantly within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero. You will be required to work on projects in and around Inverness.

Living away allowance will be provided for working away from home along with other package benefits.

What do you bring to the role?

Your qualifications, skills and experience should include:

• Qualified to ICE Chartered level or equivalent (preferred).
• Successful management of a section of a major project, or acting as site agent on a similar project.
• Thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation.
• Working knowledge of construction techniques and contract law relevant to construction contracts.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
