Job summary

ALTEN is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support advanced aerospace programmes in Bristol. The role spans design, manufacturing, analysis, testing and certification to ensure strong, light and manufacturable structural solutions.

The position requires a solid background in aerospace structural engineering, stress analysis and certification processes, with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and a focus on robust technical judgment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent military experience.
• Experience in aerospace structural engineering, stress analysis, and certification.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing, analysis and certification.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, Stress and Certification teams to develop structural solutions.
• Assess concepts and recommend improvements balancing strength, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Review drawings and changes for structural integrity.
• Contribute to design reviews and modifications with technical judgement.
• Support development of structural test plans and evaluation of results.
• Ensure testing results align with analytical predictions.
