Job summary

Ofcom is seeking a Senior Age Assurance and Digital Identity Technology Advisor to provide expert guidance on technical aspects of Age Assurance and Digital Identity within online safety. The role involves desk research, policy support, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to inform regulatory thinking.

The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge in AA or related areas, experience in advisory roles in regulatory contexts, and strong ability to communicate complex concepts to technical

Qualifications

• Educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science subject.
• Candidates with equivalent demonstrable skills and experience will be considered.
• Experience in a technical advisory role in a regulatory context is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Technical Advisory & Policy Support: provide expert guidance on Age Assurance and Digital Identity technologies to policy, supervision and enforcement teams; translate complex concepts into actionable recommendations.
• Research: lead research projects on capabilities, system performance, safety, and effectiveness in collaboration with internal teams.
• Evaluation of Age Assurance and Digital ID Systems: assess implementations per HEAA Guidance and regulatory duties.
• Technical Communication & Engagement: prepare briefings, host knowledge-sharing sessions, and represent Ofcom in external groups.
• Horizon Scanning: monitor landscape to identify trends and inform regulatory debates.
