Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invites applications for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (Band 8a) in Emergency Medicine/ Acute Medicine. The post involves autonomous practice alongside Consultants and the MDT to deliver expert assessment, diagnosis and management of acute, undifferentiated medical presentations.

The successful candidate will support patient flow across the acute pathway, contribute to education, audit and service development, and participate in flexible shift

Qualifications

• Autonomous practitioner with responsibility for expert assessment, diagnosis and management of acute, complex undifferentiated medical conditions.
• Ability to request, interpret and act on diagnostic investigations and to prescribe within scope.
• Leadership, education, research and service development activities within clinical governance.
• Flexibility to work across Acute Medicine with shifts including weekends/public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous expert assessment, diagnosis and management of acute, complex medical presentations alongside the MDT.
• Support timely clinical decision-making, patient flow and safe discharge planning across the acute pathway.
• Lead and contribute to education, supervision, audit, research and service improvement activities.
