Job summary

XPS Group in Reading is seeking an Actuarial Analyst (Pensions) to join the Pensions Technical Team on a permanent, full-time basis at Senior Associate level. The role offers hybrid working and a clear path to contribute to a wide range of actuarial calculations and client advisory activities.

You will develop skills through on-the-job training, work with data, and use our calculation tools to value pension scheme benefits while collaborating with multiple teams across the business.

Qualifications

• Broad understanding of how UK pensions schemes operate and how to value pension scheme benefits for different purposes.
• Excellent planning skills with the ability to prioritise and complete work in accordance with deadlines.
• Experience with large datasets and actuarial software.
• Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products, in particular Excel.

Responsibilities

• Data analysis and manipulation.
• Running and understanding our calculation software.
• Calculating the total value of pension schemes’ benefits for various purposes.
• Processing a wide variety of individual pension scheme member calculations.
• Drafting written advice to clients following our various standards.
• Regular liaising and communicating within the team and with other departments at XPS, in addition to the opportunity to work alongside some of our other specialist teams.
• Reviewing the work of our apprentices and junior team members.
• Training junior team members.
• Developing internal standard processes and identifying new ways to work more efficiently.
