Job summary

Sharp Consultancy is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run manufacturing business in Rotherham for an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper. The role offers broad exposure beyond transactional bookkeeping and sits at a level similar to an Assistant Accountant, with involvement across the monthly close and management reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience as Accounts Assistant or Senior Accounts Assistant or Bookkeeper
• Excellent Excel skills and accounting software experience
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to manage own workload and work independently

Responsibilities

• Managing the purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control duties when required
• Bank reconciliations
• Assisting with VAT returns
• Preparing for month-end
• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Posting and calculating accruals and prepayments
• Assisting with journals and month-end adjustments
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Investigating and resolving finance queries
• Providing financial information and support to the wider business
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting
• Supporting the Director with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects
