Job summary

GetRecruited UK Ltd is seeking an Accounts Senior in Chester with a hybrid work arrangement. The role involves managing a portfolio of SME and start-up clients, preparing statutory accounts and corporation tax returns, and guiding junior staff in a supportive practice environment.

The candidate should be ACA/ACCA qualified with at least three years in practice, confident communicating with business owners, and capable of delivering insightful financial commentary and advisory support.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA with UK practice experience.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Experience managing or supporting SME and start‑up client portfolios.
• Proven ability to prepare statutory accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Experience producing management accounts and VAT returns.
• Strong communication with business owners and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of SME and start-up clients.
• Act as principal day‑to‑day contact for clients.
• Prepare statutory accounts for companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Oversee accounts assignments from records to completion.
• Prepare corporation tax computations and returns.
• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts.
• Prepare and review VAT returns.
• Review bookkeeping records and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Identify and resolve accounting errors and queries.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning.
• Provide clear financial commentary to business owners
