Reed in Lancaster is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage a portfolio of SME clients and provide expert accounting and tax advice. You will oversee junior staff, work with management, and ensure high-quality service across a varied client base.

The role requires ACA/ACCA or equivalent, strong technical accounting knowledge, and a client-focused approach within a supportive and collaborative firm.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge.
• Advanced understanding of income tax, corporation tax, VAT, and PAYE.
• Experience mentoring or supervising a team.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise workloads.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of SME clients across sectors.
• Conducting client meetings virtually and face-to-face.
• Preparation and completion of statutory annual accounts.
• Reviewing and signing off work by juniors.
• Providing tax planning and advisory support to clients and self-assessment returns.
• Managing HMRC enquiries, audits, and investigations.
• Advising clients on income tax, corporation tax, VAT, and PAYE.
• Monitoring KPI data and performance.
• Mentoring junior team members.
• Participating in management meetings and business objectives.
