Sheridan Maine is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a growing accountancy practice based in South London. This Senior Accountant role offers exposure to a varied client portfolio across sectors and a supportive team environment.

The successful candidate will prepare and review statutory accounts, manage client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. UK practice experience and ACA/ACCA or equivalent are essential.

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience.
• Minimum 2 years' UK accountancy practice experience as Senior Accountant.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
• Experience managing client relationships and handling multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive and able to work independently and in a team.
• Willingness to mentor juniors and contribute to practice development.

The position offers a broad range of accounting and taxation responsibilities, making it particularly appealing to someone who enjoys building client relationships, taking ownership of their work and contributing to the continued growth of a practice.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Accountant will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for a range of clients, including owner-managed businesses and SMEs.
• Preparing management accounts and providing financial information to clients.
• Preparing corporation tax computations and returns.
• Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact for accounting and taxation queries.
• Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Reviewing work prepared by junior colleagues and providing guidance where required.

The successful Senior Accountant will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or be qualified by experience.
• Previous experience in a Senior Accountant role or similar position within a UK accountancy practice (minimum of 2 years).
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and taxation.
• Experience managing client relationships and handling multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• A proactive, professional approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A willingness to support junior colleagues and contribute to the development of the practice.
