Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Prepare corporation and personal tax returns and VAT submissions.
• Prepare and review management accounts and client records.
• Liaise with HMRC/Companies House when required.
• Assist junior staff and manage own workload to deadlines.
• Support clients directly and ensure accuracy in cloud systems.

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Stevenage

Package: Up to £50,000, bonuses, clear progression, 28 days holiday, and more

Accounts Senior Job Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
• Preparing corporation tax returns
• Preparing personal tax returns
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns, depending on experience
• Preparing management accounts
• Completing accounts and tax work from client records through to draft stage
• Identifying queries and communicating directly with clients to resolve them
• Carrying out bookkeeping and accounting adjustments where required
• Reviewing bookkeeping records before accounts preparation
• Helping clients with Xero and other cloud accounting software
• Liaising with HMRC and Companies House where required
• Keeping clear records, notes and actions within our practice management system
• Managing your own workload and deadlines
• Supporting junior and trainee team members as your experience develops
• Working closely with Client Managers and Directors on more complex assignments

Accounts Senior Job Requirements

• AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA part-qualified, recently qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent practical experience
• Experienced in preparing year-end accounts within an accountancy practice
• Comfortable preparing corporation tax returns and personal tax returns
• Familiar with VAT and bookkeeping
• Comfortable dealing directly with clients
• Organised and able to manage deadlines
• Keen to continue developing technically
• Positive, team-focused and willing to help others
• Comfortable with Xero and cloud accounting technology
