Job summary

Butler Rose Public Practice in Leeds Central seeks a Senior Accountant to manage a client portfolio, oversee accounts preparation, tax compliance and junior staff development. You will work across diverse industries with opportunities for progression.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients across various industries.

• Prepare and review management accounts and Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
• Prepare and review Corporation Tax Returns and assist with tax planning.
• Review bookkeeping and VAT returns prepared by junior staff.
• Provide training and mentoring to junior team members.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and liaise with HMRC.

Senior Accountant
Salary range: £45,000 (DOE)

Butler Rose Public Practice is delighted to be working with a well-established and growing accountancy practice in Leeds that is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional looking to manage their own client portfolio while taking responsibility for accounts preparation, tax compliance, and supporting the development of junior team members. The role offers a varied workload, exposure to a diverse client base, and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of clients across a range of industries.
• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts.
• Preparing and submitting Self-Assessment Tax Returns.
• Preparing and reviewing Corporation Tax Returns.
• Assisting clients with tax planning and compliance matters.
• Reviewing bookkeeping and VAT returns prepared by junior staff.
• Providing support, training, and mentoring to junior team members.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Liaising with HMRC and dealing with client queries.
• Ensuring assignments are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice environment.
• Experience managing a client portfolio.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to review work and support the development of junior staff.
• ACA / ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience candidates will be considered.
