Rekroot is seeking a Senior Accountant for a firm of accountants in Coventry. The role offers responsibility and long-term career progression within a modern practice.

The Senior Accountant will manage clients, review work by junior staff, oversee bespoke solutions, onboard new clients, and build strong client relationships while delivering management accounts, self assessments, corporation tax and year end work.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA qualification or qualified by experience.
• 3+ years in accountancy practice.
• Experience with bookkeeping, management accounts and statutory accounts.
• Experience with SME and owner‑managed businesses.
• Good working knowledge of Xero and cloud accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Understand client needs and deliver high client satisfaction.
• Prepare management accounts, self assessments, work papers, year end accounts and corporation tax returns for review.
• Review work by Accounts Assistants and Trainee Client Advisors.
• Support the client onboarding process.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships to ensure timely information and responses.

THE OPPORTUNITY

A Senior Accountant position has arisen within the firm which offers responsibility for managing clients, reviewing work completed by junior staff and overseeing delivery of the firm's bespoke solutions.

As a Senior Accountant your role will involve:

• Working with clients to fully understand and meet their needs, ensuring client satisfaction and generating more work from existing clients
• Preparing management accounts, self assessments, work papers, year end accounts and corporation tax returns for review
• Reviewing management accounts, self assessment tax returns and VAT returns prepared by Accounts Assistants and Trainee Client Advisors
• Supporting the client onboarding process
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients to ensure information is collected, and client queries are responded to in a timely manner

THE PERSON

You will be an Accountancy professional able to demonstrate the following:

• ACCA / ACA Qualified/ Qualified by Experience
• Background within Accountancy Practice (c.3+ years)
• Experience of Bookkeeping, Management Accounts, Statutory Accounts
• Experience of working with SME and Owner-Managed businesses
• Good working knowledge of Xero and possibly other online / cloud accounting software
