Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent Full Time

Working Hours: 9am to 5.30pm (Includes 1 hour lunch), Monday to Friday

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be ACCA/ACA qualified with substantial experience in an accountancy practice. This role involves managing client relationships, overseeing junior team members, and delivering high-quality financial and advisory services. The position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare financial statements and reports for various clients
2. Manage and maintain client accounts and records, ensuring accuracy and compliance
3. Prepare VAT returns and assist with tax computations
4. Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide financial advice
5. Support directors with ad-hoc tasks and projects
6. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
7. Assist in preparing management accounts and financial forecasts
8. Provide strategic financial advice, including cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and business planning
9. Support and train junior staff members

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACCA/ACA
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in an accountancy practice
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS) and tax regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., TaxCalc, Iris, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex financial concepts
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
• Solid IT skills and adaptability to new technologies

Desirable Skills

• Experience with cloud-based accounting platforms and emerging technologies, including system migrations and discovery reports
