Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. in the United Kingdom is seeking an HVDC design professional for Glasgow (preferred) or Birmingham with hybrid work (3 days in office, 2 days at home).

You will translate customer specs into conceptual protection design and coordinate with sub-suppliers, customers, and the project team to ensure FAT readiness. The role involves evaluating quotes, monitoring design and manufacturing, and supporting installation and SAT as needed.

• Remotely assist installation and SAT as needed.

Job description

We are convinced that HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) technology, solutions for energy transfer with direct current at high voltages, is a long-term sustainable solution. The technology is used for energy transmission over long distances and to connect electricity networks with minimal losses. In addition to energy transfer, HVDC technology also alleviates electricity quality problems and can contribute to the stabilization of connected power grids. For offshore wind power or long-distance underwater transmissions, direct current is the only realistic energy transmission alternative.

Location: Glasgow Office (Preferred) and Birmingham can also be considered

Working Pattern: Hybrid, 3 days office / 2 days home

How You'll Make An Impact

• Evaluate sub-supplier quotes based on the specified requirements and future design.
• Continuously monitor the design and manufacturing process, as well as leading the design team in the dialogue with our customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
