Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking a Senior ABB 800xA Engineer for a 12-month contract in Aberdeen with hybrid working. The role focuses on upgrading ABB Distributed Control System applications, configuring AC800M controllers and leading control system migrations.

The candidate will design, test and Commission FAT/SAT activities, while producing technical documentation and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. A minimum of 10 years in ABB DCS is required.

• Strong knowledge of AC800M controllers.
• Proficient in Function Designer programming.
• Experience programming using Structured Text.

• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Desirable: experience with MOD300, AC450 and ABB Safeguard systems in regulated industries.

Job DescriptionSenior ABB 800xA Engineer - Control System Upgrade Project

Location: Aberdeen Hybrid - Office attendance required for a minimum of two weeks in every four-week period.

Rate: £50-£60 per hour, dependent on experience.

Duration: 12 month contract

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and modify ABB 800xA control system applications.
• Develop and maintain control strategies using Function Designer and Structured Text.
• Configure and support AC800M controllers.
• Perform database engineering and bulk configuration using Bulk Data Manager.
• Support control system upgrades, migrations and system enhancements.

• Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and commissioning activities where required.
• Diagnose and resolve software, hardware and communications issues.

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with company standards, quality procedures and applicable safety regulations.
