Queen's University Belfast seeks an Engineer to join AMIC's Sustainable Polymer and Composite team, contributing to advanced manufacturing projects. The role is onsite and focuses on 3D weaving, woven preforms, and integration into composite structures, working with industry and academia to drive innovation.
The successful candidate will apply specialist knowledge in weaving processes, develop preforms, validate processes, and collaborate across teams to deliver impactful research outputs
Qualifications
- Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, science, or related discipline; or minimum HND with extensive experience.
- Demonstrable experience in 3D weaving processes and technical textile engineering, including development of woven preforms and their integration into composites.
- Evidence of process development and improving woven preform designs, weaving methods or textile manufacturing technologies to meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Experience of using relevant software packages for weave design and loom operation.
- Experience of working with engineering drawings and close tolerances.
- Evidence of equipment proficiency, including setup, operation, maintenance, testing and basic repair of textile weaving systems.
