Job summary

The Forum School and Residential Home, part of the Cambian Group, is a 52-week residential and specialist school for young people with Autism, severe learning difficulties and challenging behavior. We are seeking a SENDCo and Designated Teacher to drive SEND policy, oversee provision, and work with families and external agencies to support pupils aged 7–19.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on teaching duties, with safeguarding and equality commitments across the school.

Qualifications

Experience developing SEND policy and provision in a school.
Ability to coordinate SEND support for individual pupils with SEND.
Ability to provide professional guidance to staff, parents and external agencies.
Willingness to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher within the role.
Experience ensuring support for looked-after children per statutory guidance.

Responsibilities

Determine strategic development of SEND policy and provision in the school.
Oversee day-to-day operation of SEND policy and coordination of provision.
Provide professional guidance to colleagues, parents and external agencies.
Fulfil teaching responsibilities alongside SEND duties.
Be a central contact point within the school and ensure safeguarding compliance.
Collaborate with headteacher, governors and LA to implement Equality Act 2010 adjustments.
