Job summary

Prospero Teaching in Bishop Auckland is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Tutor to support a Year 7 pupil with SEND needs. You will deliver in-person English and Maths tuition 10 hours per week, outside mainstream settings, including home visits when required.

The role offers ongoing work with CPD opportunities, a flexible afternoon timetable, and a supportive local network to help the learner re-engage with education and build confidence.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring SEND learners across KS2, KS3 or KS4.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
• Two years of verifiable references.

1:1 SEND Tutor

Prospero Teaching is collaborating with local authorities, SEND teams, and education partners across Bishop Auckland to provide specialist one-to-one SEND tuition for pupils who require additional learning support outside a mainstream classroom setting.

About the Role

As a 1:1 SEND Tutor in Bishop Auckland, you will provide individualised face-to-face tutoring designed to help students re-engage with education, improve their English and Maths skills, and develop confidence in learning. Sessions are delivered in-person within community spaces, alternative education provisions, or sometimes at the learner's home, depending on their needs.

We are currently working with a student in year 7 who is struggling with the transition to Secondary school due to SEND needs, and requires 1:1 tuition for 10 hours per week (Afternoons) in their English and Maths and require a student to start ASAP.

Position Details

• Pay: up to 30 per hour
• Hours: up to 15 per week per student
