Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd is recruiting an SEND Teaching Assistant for a special day school in Selly Oak, Birmingham. You will support pupils aged 4-11 with severe learning difficulties and speech, language and communication needs, delivering both individual and classroom assistance with teaching staff.

This temporary full-time role offers day rates of £95–£115 and an immediate start, with ongoing day-to-day and long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties.
• Experience supporting speech, communication and language needs.
• Confidence working with primary-aged pupils.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.

Responsibilities

• The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will support pupils across the primary age range, providing individual and classroom support while working closely with teaching staff to help pupils access learning and develop their communication, independence and social skills.

Skills
