Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a Specialist SEND School in Camberley, available long or short-term, starting in September. You will join a caring team focused on wellbeing, inclusion and student progress within a supportive, specialist setting for students with Autism, SEMH, MLD, and communication needs.

Your role involves helping deliver personalised learning activities, supporting students 1:1 and in small groups, and collaborating with teachers to adapt lessons.

Qualifications

• Recent experience in a school, SEND setting or education environment.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs such as Autism, SEMH, ADHD or learning difficulties.
• Solid numeracy and literacy skills.
• Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, health and social care or similar—or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Comfortable taking direction from teaching staff and working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Patient, resilient and empathetic approach to supporting young people with diverse learning needs.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, responding to their SEND needs.
• Delivering personalised learning activities and interventions to support academic, social and emotional development.
• Working with teachers and other professionals to adapt lessons and resources for a range of learning needs.
• Promoting a calm, inclusive learning environment where every student feels safe, valued and encouraged to achieve goals.
• Supporting students with emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour strategies.
