Job summary

Trimdon Hill School is seeking caring, enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistants to grow with us. This permanent role supports pupils aged 4–11 with autism and complex needs, providing 1:1 and small‑group learning in a nurturing environment.

You’ll work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, starting October 2026, with a salary of £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata) under a permanent/term-time arrangement. UK applicants only; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • A calm, caring and compassionate approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and helping every pupil achieve their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1, small-group and classroom support to pupils with SEND and complex needs.
  • Help pupils access engaging, personalised learning activities tailored to their individual strengths and needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, valued and understood.
  • Provide calm and consistent emotional and behavioural support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Encourage the development of confidence, communication, independence and social skills.
  • Get involved in classroom learning as well as practical, outdoor and enrichment activities.
  • Celebrate individual progress and encourage pupils to recognise what they’re capable of achieving.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and colleagues to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.
