Job summary

Kingsmead Academy in a rural setting is seeking a permanent Teaching Assistant to work with the SENDCO in a small support team. The role involves supporting students with a range of learning, communication and social needs, both one-to-one and in small groups, and preparing resources for teaching staff.

The post is part-time and term time only, at 22.25 hours a week over 3.5 days, with job share considered.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and how support aids progress.
• Ability to build positive relationships with patience and empathy.
• Confidence supporting students one-to-one and in small groups.
• Strong communication with colleagues, parents and professionals.
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Responsibilities

• Support students with learning, communication and social needs, including SEND.
• Support students one-to-one and in small groups.
• Provide care and supervision in the classroom and across the school.
• Work with teachers to prepare learning resources and activities.
• Support delivery of learning activities so students can access the curriculum.
• Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
• Adapt approach for students with varying abilities.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and resilience.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student outcomes.
• Work under the guidance of the SENDCO.
