Job summary

Principal Education is seeking passionate, patient and resilient SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils across secondary schools in Hackney. You’ll provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND, helping them access learning and build confidence.

You’ll work alongside teachers to create an inclusive classroom and assist with learning, emotional regulation and behaviour, encouraging pupils to develop confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Experience working with children or young people, particularly SEND.
• Patience, empathy and resilience.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• Overseas police clearance if you’ve lived abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years.
• Based in Hackney or within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, MLD and communication needs.
• Assist with learning, emotional regulation and behaviour.
• Work alongside teachers to create an inclusive classroom.
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.
