Five Education is supporting a small, friendly primary school near Peasedown St John in their search for an experienced and compassionate 1:1 teaching assistant. This full-time role is ideal for someone who has previously worked closely with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and who is looking to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing school environment.
You will be supporting a child on a one-to-one basis, helping them access learning and feel safe, understood and valued in the school community. The ideal candidate will be confident, patient, and committed to building a trusting and consistent relationship with the student.
Main Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 support to a child with SEND, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs
• Help the student access classroom learning and stay engaged throughout the school day
• Work closely with teaching staff and the SENCo to follow and adapt support strategies
• Support the child with social interaction, emotional regulation and confidence building
• Ensure the child's safety and well-being during all parts of the school day, including break and lunch
Essential Criteria:
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis
• Patient, resilient and confident in managing behaviour and providing consistent support
• Able to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30-15:30 (term-time only)
• Right to work in the UK - we cannot offer sponsorship or accept Skilled Worker visas
• Able to provide two recent references (covering the last two years)
• Hold a current DBS check on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one*
*Please note, if you do not have a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, we will need to help you process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work with us.

Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employer's NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
Vetting: Five Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of the staff we employ to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required to undergo checks including reference checks, TRA checks and will need to have a DBS. There will also be an interview.
