Role Overview

We are recruiting for a fantastic school in the Weston-Super-Mare area seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team at the start of the new academic year. The role involves supporting children with special needs across various levels of the autistic spectrum, aged 16 and above. The position offers an immediate start and has the potential to become long-term following a successful trial period.

Key Skills and Requirements

• Comfortable working 1:1 or with small groups of children with SEND
• Active listening and strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to support children's physical, social, and emotional well-being
• Empathy and understanding in handling complex issues
• Awareness of safeguarding procedures to ensure child safety

Requirements include:

• Experience with young people or SEND in any capacity
• Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
• Residency within Weston-Super-Mare or a commutable distance
• Fluent English skills, both verbal and written
