Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support children with SEND across Sandwell and surrounding areas starting September 2026. Roles include 1:1 and small-group support in mainstream, SEND bases or specialist provisions.

Candidates should have Level 2/3 TA qualifications and a passion for helping every child reach their potential. We expect patience, resilience and strong behaviour-management skills, with enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to

Qualifications

  • Recent experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEND TA in a UK school.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND and additional needs.
  • Ability to work 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Patient, nurturing and resilient approach.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 or small-group SEND support.
  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs.
  • Working within mainstream classrooms, SEND resource bases or specialist provisions.
  • Supporting pupils' learning, communication and emotional development.
  • Managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
  • Delivering targeted interventions.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.

Job description

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Prospero Teaching is recruiting experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to work across Primary and SEN schools throughout Sandwell and the surrounding areas from September 2026. We are looking for caring, confident and reliable Teaching Assistants who have experience supporting children with additional needs and are passionate about helping every child reach their potential.

The Role
  • Providing 1:1 or small-group SEND support
  • Supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs and learning difficulties
  • Working within mainstream classrooms, SEND resource bases or specialist provisions
  • Supporting pupils' learning, communication and emotional development
  • Managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies
  • Delivering targeted interventions
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
We're Looking For
  • Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Experience supporting children within a UK school or education setting
  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEND
  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour-management skills
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

Experience supporting Autism, ADHD, SEMH, complex needs, challenging behaviour, communication needs or sensory needs would be particularly valuable.

Position Details

Location: Sandwell and surrounding areas

Start: September 2026

Hours: Approximately 8:30am3:30pm, term time

Positions: Full-time, part-time and flexible supply

Contract: Temporary / long-term / ongoing opportunities

Pay: Competitive daily rates dependent on experience and assignment
