TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant in Sunderland to join on a long-term basis starting in September. The role is 1:1 support for children with complex SEND, helping with educational and personal development while promoting positive outcomes throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEND, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a school team.

Location: Sunderland
Start Date: September
Salary: £93 to £100 per day

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant on a long‑term basis starting in September. The successful teaching assistant will work on a 1:1 basis with a number of children with complex SEND needs, supporting both their educational and personal development while promoting positive outcomes throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEND is essential
• Experience supporting children with a range of complex additional needs
• A patient, caring, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
