Job summary

Teaching Personnel are recruiting a Behaviour Support Assistant to work in Northumberland secondary schools. You will provide targeted behaviour support to pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them engage with learning and school life.

This supply role offers full-time hours, 1:1 and small group support, and collaboration with teaching and SEN teams. Previous UK school experience and knowledge of trauma-informed practices are desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, care, or similar).
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Resilient, calm, and adaptable approach.
  • Experience in a UK secondary school or SEMH setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour support strategies and trauma-informed practice.
  • Team Teach or positive handling training.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Youth Work, Psychology, Education).

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or additional learning barriers.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans.
  • Assist with de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Support pupils in classrooms, intervention spaces, or alternative provision settings.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching, pastoral, and SEN teams.
  • Monitor and report on student behaviour and engagement.
  • Promote a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.

About the Role

Teaching Personnel are working closely with secondary schools based in northumberland to recruit Behaviour Support Assistant. We are currently working with a school based in cramlington to recruit. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting young people with behavioural, emotional, and social needs.

You will work with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing targeted behaviour support to help students engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities
